Born and raised in Northwest New Jersey, Levi Schmidt has always been a child of rhythm. He began his musical career as a drummer, playing with local bands throughout his childhood. Schmidt picked up the guitar during his high school years and slowly made the transition from drummer to songwriter.
After moving to Boston to study in 2006, Schmidt sharpened his vocal skills as a member of MIT Resonance a cappella group, and fell in love with rhythm all over again as a member of Rambax MIT Senegalese Drum Ensemble. He studied music theory, receiving a minor in MIT’s inspiring music program, and growing tremendously as a musician. Finally, in early 2009, Schmidt fell back into songwriting and began indulging in Boston's live music scene.
And nowadays, Levi Schmidt can be found playing his unique and poignant tunes at local Boston/Cambridge venues, house concerts, stairwells, lobbies, street corners and more.
In October, 2009, Levi signed with his good friends at Birch Beer Records to make his first CD, entitled “Like Water”.
